The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and the Technical University of Mara Sdn Bhd commenced the preliminary discussions that have been held since 2015. Between the beginning of cooperation is the joint supervision of a PhD student (UniMAP as a co-supervisor), and the potential to gain a few more Master and PhD candidates.
Through research, this cooperation will be implemented through research in the field 'nanobiosensors' based Graphene Oxide to detect cancer at an early stage.
Apart from this cooperation also involves the grant application with the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE), such as' Long-term Research Grant Scheme (LRGS) ',' Fundamental Research Grant Scheme '(FRGS),' Transdisciplinary Research Grant Scheme (TRGS) and 'collaborative Research in Engineering Science and Technology (CREST)' involving cooperation between universities and companies. This collaboration also get grants for cooperation with international institutions, such as grants Newton-Ungku Omar and the British Council. Through this work, the two sides will start the 'start-up company.
Research and Development experience by UniMAP researchers can be shared by the British Malaysian Institute, premises which have taken steps in that direction.
In addition, based on extensive experience and expertise of both parties in the Training and Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) TVET agenda is expected to be strengthened through cooperation between the two parties.
Through the 'Centre of Excellence for Advanced Sensor technology (CEASTech), UniMAP with Malaysian Spanish Institute, Kulim, Kedah has conducted joint research and development of nano materials for the fabrication of sensors such as' Graphene 'and thin film materials' new Material'yang Thin Film.
Documents Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Acting Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Y.Bhg. Dato 'Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal and President UNIKL Y.Bhg. Prof. Dato 'Dr. Mazliham Mohd Sains. The Memorandum of Understanding was also witnessed by Dr. Khairel Rafezi Ahmad, Dean of Materials Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mohd Noor Ahmad, Professor at the Centre for Materials Engineering, Prof. Dato 'Dr. Azanam Shah Hashim, Vice President of Academic and Technology, UNIKL, Prof.Madya Dr. Mohd Izhar Abu Bakar, Dean, British Malaysian Institute, and Dr. UNIKL Mohd Azmi Mohd Azraie, Senior Lecturer, British Malaysian Institute, UNIKL.
The event was held to show the commitment between UniMAP and UNIKL and thus enhance relations existing cooperation between public universities and private universities.
